Who's thirsty ? Smokey likes it when the water is flowing. We do have a pet fountain but he still enjoys more the water from the bath tub. He might think the quality is better. As I feed them dry food, it is very important that I check regularly that my cats are drinking enough water per day. The body of a cat is made up of about 70% water. Even the natural prey that cats would catch if hunting outside also contain approximately that same amount of water. Many people falsely assume that cats don’t need water or that they’re afraid of it.
Nowadays lots of cats (indoor or outdoor) like Smokey eat lots of dry food which has very low water content and so they need an additional water supply . In our home we have 3 bowls of water, an additional water fountain and me turning on the bath tub every time Smokey needs a fresh drink. Cats who consume wet food , like raw food, get much of the water they need within that food . Canned food also contains approximately 75% water) but with raw or canned food, our cats still greatly need to drink from a separate water supply. So with any type of food, it's essential to have a separate bowl (or fountain even better) of water in your house. Santé!
