Pledge of allegiance

Dogs and cats are by far the most loved animals across the world. They receive much more attention than other domestic animals like cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese and hens. Just look at the thousands Instagram pages and you'll understand what I mean. So, I'm wondering, why the hell are those poor animals abandoned, more and more each year. Why the hell, despite how much we love dogs and cats, there is still a huge pet homelessness problem in Europe, and in the world!

I just read an article from a Canadian newspaper telling me that in Montreal this year the shelters are receiving 20 to 30 cats per day! Belgian shelters are also struggling with the same problem.

So today, I pledge to my cats. I'll make some rightful promises I'll always keep.

So here it is :

To my cats :

I'll never move and not take you with me

I will never put you in a shelter and leave you

I will never let you starve

I will never let you get hurt

I will never desert you when you get old

Nor will leave you when you go blind

If that time comes I will be there to hold you and hug you

Because I love you and you are family

I know I'm being naive but if everyone's adopting a pet would promise such things and keep their promises. This dramatic situation would happen less and less.
